Becoming a member of the SBG can be an important step in the desire to join a community of professionals in Gestalt and Gestalt therapy. Joining the SBG is an opportunity to integrate, exchange with peers, and actively and collectively participate in a movement that goes beyond your own practice.

It is a choice that can bring many benefits, but it also involves responsibility and commitment. This section will help you understand the steps one by one and will answer any questions you may have.

Criteria

to adhere to the Membership Charter of the SBG and to respect its Code of Ethics
having undergone in-depth personal psychotherapeutic work
having completed a long and rigorous training and committing to ongoing training
participating in regular supervisions
ensuring a recognition process by peers.

Among other criteria, we mention the necessity to be in agreement and in order with the legal and administrative requirements of a professional practice in force in the country of practice and to invest in the functioning of the Belgian Society of Gestalt.

Terms

The SBG consists of full and associate members. It promotes the professionalisation of their practice.. Members who meet the five listed criteria are classified as “full members”. Those enrolled in a professionalisation process are either still students or at the beginning of their practice and are referred to as “associate members”.

A 4-step process

Adopt the charter and the code of ethics

The first step concerns your approval of the SBG Ethical Charter and your commitment to respect its Code of Ethics (to consult them, follow the links). Your membership application (second step) therefore implies your assent to these principles and your commitment to adhere to them.

Fill out the online form

The second step involves completing the online membership form. The requested information aims to constitute your registration file. Following the receipt of your application and the verification of your file's documents, you will be notified of the decision.

Pay the membership fee

45 € for Associate Members
75 € for Full Members
300 € for Institutional Members

The subscription is due per calendar year, regardless of the date of membership to the association.

Immediate boarding

Once your membership fee is paid, the SBG will send you the codes that will allow you to register in the online directory and access the forum. If you are starting out in your practice, you will receive an installation guide as a Gestalt therapist.
